The Bit by Bit SJA Review | The Vault of Secrets Part One

Ok here we go. Its 5 o clock, time for my bit by bit review of SJA Ep 3. Well in 15 minutes. Now, just to go over this again, I write this review at the same time as watching the episode. Immediate reactions and views to the episode, and you can read them all in a second. Or so. And I update this, bit by bit. It’s a bit by bit update as I watch it. Immediate reactions to the episodes.

So what do I expect from the Vault of Secrets? I expect reactions to Luke leaving, I expect the normal continuity from DW Phil Ford brings in. And I expect SJ to not be taken over by Androvax! Ok two of them are hopes, the Phil Ford DW one is an expectation.

Here we go. Doctor Who type music there, random girl running into a castle. Alien scanner I presume. Lots of smoke…. Something behind a wall? Bleepy device. Wall opens, not a lot behind it. But I think the Alliance have woken up. Guarding whatever that thing is. Oh here they are. They are a lot creepier than they look in the trailer.

Titles. Oh a continuation of the pre-titles, doesn’t happen often. Oh it’s Androvax! This won’t go well will it? But they are looking for the Veil. Oh Luke’s there. Mars probe. Rover, did that in science. Luke’s asking questions. Why are they powering down the probe? Ah there are aliens on Mars. And that chances of that…. etc. Oh this is BURPSS, everyone has seen aliens. Flashback? Not needed. Still. Ocean Waters? Really? Phil Ford writing a let down after Nightmares.

Minty. Mum compared to this to LINDA. I can see the point. Must be a leaky roof up there. Oh they’ve seen Androvax. What a coincidence. Is that a shower pipe? Androvax hiding, leaves rustle. Armed? With a shower pipe…. interesting….. Still a let down. Oh it’s a tyre thingy. Still. Rani seen Androvax?

Yes he is Clyde. Yes he is coming back. Oh! Rani was Androvax, didn’t see that coming! Rani turns, see’s something. Turns back and Androvax is inside her! Oh no Rani trying to act bad. None of them can do it. He needs their help. Yes he did Clyde. That’s my new phrase for Clyde. Yes he is Clyde. I need one for the others now. Oh is there any need for the music? Swamp Viper. Nice. Oh and did they crash in Ealing by chance? They’re in the Vault. They want to open the vault, get Mr Smith to help do it, and get Androvax’s people from the Vault. Lovely new backstory.

You mean you can’t tell Sarah can’t act? Sarah doesn’t mind that they MIGHT find something. Oh right.  Blow it up. Oh an Asylum. Ok, I have a few thoughts on this episode. I thought without real feelings and a realistic nature, SJA would sink into silliness. But instead we have an intelligent plot, and the characters remain the same. There are bits of silliness and the plot is in places weak, but it is overall a good plot line and the characters are still strong. We don’t have the feelings and the good characterness and plotness of The Nightmare Man, because of the story it is. The story can’t get those. But what it can get in plotness and characterness, it has.

Anyway. Androvax will steal those two. Told you! Oh and Dread is back to get both thingies. To keep the vault safe, cos the Shades own the vault and don’t want people to steal.

So, tomorrow’s episode looks exciting, lots of twists and turns. Overall, a good episode. The DW continuity not shoved in your face and more discreet. The characters act well and the plot is good, and the silliness is only there a little. Without the scary plot and realistic feelings that came with the Nightmare Man, the characters and plot can’t be quite as good. But they’re being as good as they can be.

Well done Phil.

Join me tomorrow for The Vault of Secrets Part 2 Bit by Bit Review!
